I went to the gym before work today, yet was so groggy I didn't trust myself to doing anything other than cardio. Anyone else experience this? I plan on making it to the gym for am cardio a couple of times/week. But, I'll save the weights until later...

It's hard to workout in the mornings, isn't it? I usually limit my mornings to cardio like you. I'm much better focused in the afternoons.
Good luck!

I work out in the morning, I get up at 4:30 and am in the gym by 6. I love it! I have always liked going in the AM better. Gets me pumped and energized for the long day ahead of me. I would be dragging if I went at night. It takes some getting used to though. Maybe a week or two of being in the habit of getting up early, but after that, it's cake ;)

They say you should lift during the day in which you feel most active, if that is possible. I work at 6 am and am out by the early afternoon. Noon is my strong point, so I am ablr to lift when I feel I am at my best. There is a gym in my area open 24 hours, anyone ever hear of such a thing?

Missa, just don't forget that cardio burns calories but weight training will shape your body...... You cannot choose between those two things, I'm just saying that if you want great results then just make sure of doing both things! How's the diet and training going?

Diet is much improved--still lapses. (You just can't go to a baseball game without getting peanuts!) I do 4 weight training sessions/week but have not been getting as much cardio in as I need. That's what I am trying to do now. I started a new weight loss/tone program, but only entered 3 days. That way I can do legs on my 4th weight training day. I'm trying to get more cardio in and learn more about proper diet. I eat well, but do have lapses. How is your training going Philia?

Well, think of it...coming home from the local bar at 2:00am then hitting the weights afterwards...(LOL)

============= Cardio in the morning helps you get the day started by feeling good; but don't forget it's still needed before or after a workout. Good luck with your goals.

I used to do some cardio in the morning. It was a bitch to get up and get on the bike but I found that once I got off and ate I felt really, really good all day. I had alot more energy and I just felt better over all.

I would love to join a 24 hour gym, but the only ones are downtown and membership is just too pricey! I am sad because I think I will no longer have time for my morning runs. There are going to be some serious lane closures going on, on my main route to work, so I'll have to be leaving extra extra early. I could go run at 4:30 AM, but it's so very dark. I guess I will see what happens.
