I'm 35 and have had a low activity level before I started weight training about 9 months ago (Yes, I started late in life). I have improved my muscularity but muscle growth seems to be a problem. I have played with my protien intake and track myself on spreadsheets. I suspect I've been overtraining and have cut back the amount of exersizes while trying to increase wieght per lift (weight training 5 day a week-cardio 2 days a week). My goals are to reach 10% body fat and about 200+Lbs. I eat generally 170 grams of protien a day and split my calory intake (carbo-40, protien-30, fat-30). Any suggestions?

Overtraining is the worse thing you can do when trying to gain muscles. I have done that for very long and have therefore wasted years of hard work....... This is no good, but it can be difficult to understand that the muscles need that much rest to build themselves stronger and greater.

Today I weight train 3-4 times weekly, but I make sure of driving myself to my max in every single work out (not injuring myself thou) That works for me.

For fat loss, try cycling your carb intake: some days with very low carbs and some days carb up.

Luck to you.
