Today i was unloading some weight off the bar and kinda got ahead of myself. I was lifting inone of those cage things that people use to do squats, ect. Well I took tooo much weight off one side and the damn bar shot right into the air. I was able to grab it when it was straight up, luckly before it filped completly around to the other side. i didnt even bother to look around to see if anyone saw me. Ohh well, I just laughed it off. Anyone else ever have or see anything crazy like that happen in the gym?

LOL That's the kind of story most of us don't tell. But as long as we're at it. Back when I was around 20 (that was 30 plua years ago) and just started working with weights I took a 60 lb db and put it overhead to do some tricep extensions. Promptly fell backword and fortunately didn't hurt anyone, including myself.

Good story, I saw a guy once take a tumble off the treadmill awhile back and roll up against the glass window. I couldnt help but laugh.

LOL, thats crazy Cainsands, thats why I stick to the bike....LOL
I was reading some info in a back issue of muscle and fitness and came across another crazy gym story. This powerlifter was at an event watching the competetiors bench and saw an amazing accident. This one guy pressed the weight up quick using those open handed grips (no thumb around the bar) and BAM the bar slipped out of his hands and landed right in his mouth, knocking his teeth out...IMAGINE seeing that....WOW....thats CRAZY! the observer said the guy who dropped the bar on his face was walking with his teeth in his hands screaming "I knocked my "F"in teeth out!"

I also heard a story similar to qualters. When I was in high school I had a friend whose neighbor use to work out in his basement. One night he was doing bench presses using a barbell with 350lb and no spot and no one else home(this guy was big and very strong but not very smart). He was finishing the set and misracked the weight and it fell straight into his mouth knocking out all his teeth, breaking his jaw, and ripping the sides of his mouth back about a half-inch on each side. He was a mess!! Not a pretty site..

I have a problem with my walkman flying away from me. One time, at a Gold's, they had their cardio equiptment on this catwalk, and I'm on the elliptical, and I got in my groove (I've already mentioned my urge to dance to the music) and i slapped my walkman, it went flying over the rail and almost nailed some girl on her head!! Yeah, I just laughed, ran down, grabbed it and appologized. Just this morning on the treadmill I did the same thing, slapped my walkman, and it flew off, landed on the treadmill on rolled away...TWICE! I'm outta control. Maybe I SHOULDN'T be listening to those funky breakbeats anymore!

LOL! Okay the barbell/teeth stories are a little harsh. That's the last part of lifting I want to think about.

When i use to work out at home I ran into many crazy situations, getting the bar stuck on my chest happened many times. Another thing happened to me when I was doing squats. I was lifting the weights when I lost my balance a little, next thing I knew the bar was leaning more to my right and there goes the weight. The weights slide off one side, the bar lifts up a little and then weight slides off the left side. What a major mistake not using those clamps to keep the weight on the bar.

One time when I was lifting at my house I tried to press out one more rep and it went half way up then right back down. Luckily my dad came outside a minute later to get it off lol.
