What exercise are you doing.. on a bench press I pretty much can't do it but on flyes and dumbell presses I just touch the weights together then squeeze...

Here is my suggestion. I always forgot to contract the muscles too. so if you are not at a public gym then take your shirt off.
This helps me see the difference when you contract and when you dont. And trust me you will see a difference. I would have to agree with fireload. Bench is hard to squeeze on but always concentrate squeezing on those flys and presses.

looking good jnellie-keep it up

Another thing that might help you visualize is to do partials with dumb bell flyes to get the idea. Get your form down and it doesn't matter how much weight you're doing. Forget who might be looking. :) Do the fly and stop 3 to 4 inches from the top of the movement and don't let the db's touch. Really contract the pecs and hold it. You might be surprised how much of a burn you can get without a lot of weight.

Here's my suggestion: do them slowly! Work with the heavy weights, but concentrate on what you're doing and just do them very slowly. You won't be able to do the FT recommended number of reps., but the form will be great...which is what you are after anyway!
