I just read the article on overtraining. I'm wondering about the point on intensive training not being a good thing (at least for the recovery process). Is less intensive training a better thing in the long run?
Actually, that all depends on your goals. The human body is a very efficient machine and can adapt very quickly. The article just reinforces what I have read elsewhere from other trainers in that it is not necessary to work out to failure each time.
Also, workout intensity is a matter of perspective within each individual. Everyone has their own interpretation. Mainly, I think, we all have to listen to our bodies so that proper recuperation takes place. Doing so will lessen injuries and will provide optimum results...
If every time you go to the gym you take very heavy and work out to failure each time, you'll end up veeery over trained if not injured......
Of course we need to shock the muscle fibres once in a while but definitely not every time.
(As I said sooo many times) one gotta change to see results.
