I'm curious about how many calories I should take in every day. I am 5'9 185 lbs, a bit heavy, and wish to lose 15 lbs or so. I lift moderate weights for about 20-30 mins, and run (or try, walk if I cannot run) for 30 mins (usually walk for 3 mins, run for 3 mins).
According to my nutrition program, I should take in a maximum of 2580 or so calories, but that seems high as 2000 seems to be stuck in my head as what I should shoot for. For the last three days, I have been eating 1650 calories, with high protein, but have been getting really tired and worn out half way through my day. (I work out in the morning) I'm wondering if I should eat more calories, and I don't want to hurt myself, or eat too many that I still don't lose 2-3 lbs a week.

Should I increase my calories to 1800? 2000?

Sounds like your body is telling you to maybe eat more? Provided you stick to your cardio and weight lifting, you should be able to increase your caloric intake without any problems. Gradually increase until you feel like you're not worn out.

Good luck!

The best thing to do is try to listen to your body. If you are feeling tired then something is wrong. Do you eat enough vitamines? Get enough sleep?
Yes try eating a little bit more (but still healthy!!) and see if it'll work for you.
Last thing, don't forget that ess fat is necessairy to loose fat so don't stop eating your peanut butter and flax seed oil.

Good luck!

Epimetheous what do you do for a living? do you set behind a desk all day? If you have a physical job you might want to eat more but if you just sit around all day behind a desk like I do you may not need as many calories. Try taking a multi-vitamin see if that helps you any.

Been having trouble posting, hope it works this time.

With that said, I think my problem lies in my sleep, I work 12 hour shifts 5-6 days a week, and to work out and relax before work, I can really only allow myself 6 hours of sleep.

Billk- my job is not really sedentry, but is not highly active. I do minor repair work on spot welders at a munitions factory, basically keeping them running. I am walking around alot, and am on my feet at least 11 out of the 12 hours, though I can't say I do alot of heavy lifting.
