I too am a smoker who really needs to quit. I plan on starting the patch again on Monday. If you have no history of high blood pressure you should be fine doing cardio with the patch. The last time I used the patch I would schedule myself to change the patch as soon after doing cardio as possible. I took it off, did cardio, then reapplied a new one. I never had any problems. It will increase your blood pressure some and cause a slightly higher pulse rate due to the constant stream of nicotene going into your bloodstream. Any problems with blood pressure, check with the doc first. Hope this helps and good luck with the smoking!

I recently quit chewing tobacco. I went cold turkey. I was told, or read somewhere that to help yourself be successful, you need to tell everyone you know that you are attempting to quit. That means family, friends, co-workers, people at church, etc. I found this helped me in two ways. I got extra support from people who cared about me, and I had a built in excuse for jumping down peoples throats at work when they did something stupid. LOL. (Don't forget, that excuse runs out after about week two.)

Good luck with it. Just to let you know, I had been an chewer for 20 years. I don't know how long you have been smoking, but I know you can do it.

Yes I have. I have seriously tried to quit 3 times before. The first couple of days with the patch are pretty rough. Get a lot of sugar free breath mints and keep them with you. Every time you want a smoke pop one in your mouth. The last time I tried to quit I made it 93 days and thought I had it licked. My wife smokes also and that makes it a little harder. I know that it would be lame to blame my weakness on her so I'll have to take it myself. I know that it can be done and I'm going to do it. Good luck to you and keep me updated. I'll do the same.
