I do cardio 3x a week for 30 minutes to supplement weight training. I find when I run though, my shins seem to get sore during and after. I have good running shoes and really enjoy running. Is this a sign of shin splints or just some basic pain that will settle with time?
Anyone else have this problem on the treadmill?

Maybe it's a good idea to see a doc? Or try another cardio exercise without impacts -like the stairmaster, cross trainer or rowing machine. With those your legs will get no repetitive shocs. Try those for a week and see if your shins still hurts. If it's yes, then you definitely need to see a doc.

Worked the bike for my cardio tonight and had no problem. Will keep going and see how it goes. Thanks for the advice!

explore25, It is probably shin splints. You need to exercise the front parts of you calves. Lay a dumbbell or a plate on the top of you foot and lift up and down. This will help strength that area. I had the same problem as you and fixed it using that technique.

And, if you are not as experienced as billk, you can do the toe taps suggested above, without the weight, until you build up. :)
