Since I doubt FT would really like it if I used up most of their server's memory giving detailed descriptions of the teqchniques of some of the lifts (I DO tend to ramble...LOL), I can just provide the info of where you could go to see and read about the info needed.

Also, re: entering competitions: the best thing to do is find a gym in your area that caters to power and/or olympic lifting. This may be difficult since most gyms today have become nothing more than glamorized spas... but thats a different topic. Once you find it, get info on local lifting meets and attend some to observe how they are held. Get involved locally, then you can move on to the sanctioned meets.

So, to kill two birds with one stone, you can go to my web ring and get all of the info you need. Go to www.hardandfit.com and click on the "links" button. Once you're at the links page, click on the button (near the top of the page) that'll take you to the web ring. Several of the sites near the bottom of the page deal with official powerlifting federations and getting started in competitions. The very last link is a great site with photos, descriptions, and even some animated sequences of power and olympic lifts.

If you have any other specific questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Good luck...............Michael

it's been awhile for that.....LOL.

actually, as part of our training regimen, my partner and I used to incorporate into our cycles what we called "dinosaur training." it was a great way to really tax the strength and cardio systems by stressing them with real world work. about twice a month, we would have one session with odd lifts, such as farmer walks with heavy weights, lifting and moving kegs, pushing and pulling trucks, etc. it worked wonders for our competition lifts.

i dont really miss that part of training that much, though....LOLOL!
