Hi,
My name is Corrine. I'm ski race for the Park City Ski Team and have to work out 4 days a week at the gym to stay in shape. However, skiing has caused me to gain muscle in places (mostly thighs and buns) that i would like to slim down. I weigh 105 lbs and am 5'4". I was wondering how I can keep my girlish figure in proportion-(my waist is very small, so my legs look out of proportion). I want to be strong, but also lean. Please write back if you have any suggestions.
Thanks
Corey

Wait please say again if the mass on your thighs and buns is muscles or fat? If it's fat, cardio is the answer, if it's muscles I also have the solution ("drying" the muscle but without losing strengh).
An other thing, weight train your shoulders. This will help you give the right proportion thighs-waist-shoulders.

What? Did I read this post correctly? You want to "LOSE" muscle??? Here I am trying to gain what you already have!! I guess we all have different goals and ideas in mind.... I am just looking to, most importantly, feel good...and next, to look decent in a pair of jeans...

I wish you the best of luck!! Being a part of the ski team sounds like hard work....but alot of fun...!!

Your legs and bum probably look hard from skiing right? Well that's a dream come true for most women. At 5'4" 105 pds its hard to imagine your legs are too big. I agree with Phila2. Do some upper body work to balance out that physique. Shoulder, lats and some arms would do wonders. You will look great.

I did have the same problem as Corrine.... I have been fencing for years and it's tough for your legs since you are always in a static position. I mean you are always burning your legs without giving them any rest.
Anyway, I turned out to have those huge thighs (and the right one bigger than the left!). It's great to have muscles but sometimes they just get too big.
So I began a leg program with the goal of "drying" out those muscles (but since I still fence I wanted to keep the strengh). Well I can tell you that it worked. Lots of reps, almost no rest between the sets, three times per week....
It took 6 weeks, but I lost almost 2 inches on each leg.
The funny thing is that in the end of those 6 weeks, my legs have become a lot stronger than before.
That's the great thing about weight training (and that's why I love my job so incredible much!) We can do everything with our muscles, we just have to know how....

How do you muscle "dry" exactly? Can someone describe in more detail how to do it? I'd like to do it for my thighs...

She said that she did lots of reps with no rest in-between sets, that's what it appears she means by "drying." If you want to know more just send philia a personal message by clicking on send instant message under her post.

Everybody is different and very often the big thighs are not muscles but fat!
To get big thigh muscles one really needs to work a lot SO if you are not a professional ski racer (or like me being on the national fencing team or another very physical sport with your legs always bend) then it's probably not your case.

Anyway, what I did worked for me.
