It has been around 8 years since I have recieved a knee injury in football. Went to doctor and I think it was misdiagnosed. I am unable to do significant weight on the bar when squating I can get 3/4 the way parallel but my knees buckle and give out. It doesnt hurt but it seems all the strength I have just disappears. I was wondering if there are any tips on excersises that I can do to strengthen the muscles around my knees so that I can get back to doing squats the right way.

First get a second docs opinion. Second drop the weight on the bar off a lot if not totaly. then add slowly to it. But first get a new look at the knees medically.

What specifically did you get diagnosed with? What was the physical therapy that you did? what have you done afterwards?

Try working bodyweight squats or assisted bodyweight squats (via strength bands). I would use full range of motion and higher reps (15-50 reps) to start.

I have badly injured my knee and have rehabbed it without surgery to the point where I became a lot stronger than before so it can be done.
