Perhaps someone here can give me some helpful advice. I am kinda confused. On this site the recommended caloric intake for me and my size is 3663 calories. I have always been a big girl. I have a large bone structure which I am very thankful for because it hides my weight well. I am 5'8" and I weigh 275 lbs. I want to lose 100 lbs. I have tried Weight Watchers. I am always hungry. I do hate to count but I have decided to write everything down that I eat so that I am atleast seeing what kind of choices I am making. I have been exercising faithfully since April. And seeing no results. Possibly because of what I am eating more so than how much. I have listened to my mom harp for years about how much I'm eating. But sweets is my biggest problem. I'm just confused as to why this site tells me I should be eating that many calories and how can I possibly intake all that in one day? I figure I usually intake around 2000. I have been trying to eat more fresh fruits and veggies. Any suggestions? I really want to start losing. I am uncomfortable in my own skin. I'd like to lose 45 lbs by next April. Is this possible?
This is the formula I was following, however I was multiplying by 30 until I read a little further. The thyroid factor...I don't have thyroid probs according to all the blood tests I've been put through but I'm sure my metabolism is not so wonderful. I am active and all. But anyways...When I sat down and figured it with multiplying by 25 it came out to 2925 calories. That is a little more understanding but I am still worried it is a little high. But according to what I'm reading because of my body size is a 1500-2000 calorie diet putting into starvation mode? It says to eat in 250-300 calorie meals. That will be like 10 meals a day. I honestly don't know if I can eat that much. I know it is more of a matter of eating the right things like more veggies. but with work and all. How do I fit in 9-10 mini meals a day? I am also concerned about eating more and not shrinking my stomach but I think with eating the mini meals that prevents that from happening.
Current Weight, in Pounds _____
Divide above by 2.2 _____
Multiply result by 25 _____
Subtract 200 for "Thyroid Factor" -200
Calories Per Day for Weight Loss _____
Divide by 300 = # of 300-calorie "mini-meals" Per Day _____
At 300 calories per meal, a 175 pound hypothyroid person could expect to lose weight eating approximately six balanced mini-meals of around 300 calories each, spaced out evenly throughout the day...along with appropriate exercise, of course!
How many calories should you have in a day (no weight loss):
For sedentary people: Weight x 14 = estimated cal/day
For moderately active people: Weight x 17 = estimated cal/day
For active people: Weight x 20 = estimated cal/day
