KISS-Keep It Simple Stupid.

What does this mean? Well for the average person that embarks upon a fitness plan/lifestyle, it means a LOT. One of the biggest mistakes a "newbie" can make is to overthink, and over anaylze a workout plan. Does this mean that you should not carefully research a lifting plan, meals, etc? Of Course not. BUT if you take small simple steps, you will most likely keep at this and actually make and reach your frist goal and go beyond.

Step one is to write down what you want. THis is so important. Most new folks say they want to get lean fit etc. Well what is that meaning to you? Make sure you know what you actually WANT to gain from this.

Step two is to take some level of education UPON YOURSELF!!!! Nothing makes it harder than expecting us to tell you everything.

Step three get in the GYM and lift. Get in the kitchen and eat right. Get in bed and rest.

Step for is KISS. I always see new people doing way to much and too many rather useless exercises...pick a basic simple plan. Full body is a good one to start with and use the best exercises for doing that.

Those are: Deadlifts, squats, bench press, bent over rows, good mornings, SLDL etc...

I hope that this helps some one. Also IF after you have researched and read and looked at all you can, you still need or want some ideas or help, ASK US!

Good Luck!

Hi!

When you said that you should carefully research a lifting plan and should not expect the moderators and others on this site to tell us everything, I was just wondering where would be a good place to start looking for information. Are there any good books for beginners that you would suggest or other sites or weightlifting magazines that are not only geared for serious bodybuilders?

Thanks,
Aly

Start here....this site has a lot of posts on everything....that said.....I am not saying we would not help out..just that you do need to look into this a bit on your own. I realize that this is all very hard sometimes to understand...so if there is anything you do not understand let me know.

As for books, look for those written now, as a lot of the science has changed. I went to the library and just got out a few on lifting....I like the Arnold Encyepodia (my spelling is bad sorry).

You can absolutely still ask questions here!

I think that what Mutt means is you should at least do some research on your own.. don't just come here and ask what to eat, when to eat it, and what exercise plan you should do expecting everybody here to tell you exactly what to do. Not only does that get annoying, but everybody is different, so there's no exact diet/exercise plan that will work the same for everybody.
