when you say not having any effect, can you be more specific to what you mean? Are you not getting any better at them? not increasing the amount you can do? Or are you trying to get Abs by summer, and are expecting Situps to be all that you need to do?

I was having that bloated feeling - try increasing your daily water intake. Alot of women retain water - and drinking more will help to decrease the water you retain.

As far as situps go - they will help to build your abs muscles, but unless you shed some belly fat - they will stay hidden under that fat (thats where I am at right now)

But like speeder has already suggested - you need to do more than situps to get fab abs. Take a look at the WSSC Challenge - it should help you get where you want to.

Thanks guys.. Yes i naively did think sit ups was all you had to do for slimmer waists.. Alot of my friends said they done alot of them and they worked so i guess i was wondering why they weren't working for me...

I do try to increase my amount but end up with major back ache about 2 days later!!

I will try the water thanks, to be honest i deffo do not drink enough of the stuff....

Well Unfortunately, you do need to do alot more....Cardio and Diet is your Freind, and you should ideally start a full resistance training routine. Your back is likely sore, and your targeting only one muscle of your core, and leaving your back out of it. by strengthening your Abdominal's and neglecting your lower back, you may be looking at injuring your back.

Read here, inform, and formulate a plan, and go for it, as angie mentioned the WSSC Challenge on this site, is a good place to start, and even if you don't partake in the challenge, you can still use the info.

Appreciated..

I've just got together my cardio plan for every other day and am very willing to give it a shot.

I am currently on the Slimming World diet but to be honest, I have been more bloated since being on it than ever before, I'm one of these that associate weight loss with not eating at all, and a bad habit I need to get out of.

I'm reading up on the WSSC challenge as now and already im confused, I'm not very good with maths !:laugh

Do yourself a favor and keep your exercise basic for now. Also, if your getting a lot of pain in your lower back, try doing crunches instead of sit-ups. Breath out as you "crunch" and in as you reset your position. Diet is the absolute key to succeeding here. Don't starve yourself, just make healthier choices.
