I went to my gran's the other week, and she had this circular board that swivels so you stand on it and swivel your hips from side to side (like a hula girl?) and I was wondering - because it's fairly easy to go beyond your normal range of motion on it, is it a bad idea? I'm pretty flexible, and I really felt it loosening me up, but i'm concerned that perhaps it isn't good for your spine to swivel too much. Any thoughts?

Not 100% sure what you mean, but excess flexbility of the lumbar spine is not normally a good thing. Some joints are built for flexibility, your lower back isn't one of them.
