Hi there, I just recently joined the gym and i'm a scratch golfer who is interested in attaining more distance this season. Anyone know of specific exercises that are beneficial to golf?

bill I seen a guy yesterday doing his golf swing at the gym with a dumbbell over and over again. He was sweating and I was thinking hmm not bad. Also I'm sure you could work some sort of variation of a golf swing with the cables on a machine.

Ah, a need fore speed.
Don't swing a heavy weight to slowly to build golf speed.
It doesn't make sense!
The clubhead is real light.
I swing a speedchain.
It is a chain on a golf grip with progressively heavier links. The faster you are able to move the chains the more resistance you create.
I went from 107mph clubhead speed to over 120mph.
I avg. 290 off the tee at 145lbs.
Against many speed trainers I talk to I have started to weight again and have gained close to 10lbs now.
I haven't checked my swingspeed lately so I'm not sure how the extra weight and slow training has affected me.
