I have strength class in the morning. i don't really have time to finish my work out in the class.so i was wondering if i could do the smaller exercises at home after school. is that ok to split up my routine like that.

How much time do you have and what is your workout?

well, i have about 25 min in the strength class and a half an hour at home. i thought i could do the bigger stuff in the gym and the smaller stuff at home. Like bench at school and lateral raises at home. I would lift at 7:30 in the morning and then 3:45 at home.
I don't really have a routine right now, but i would be doing upper on one day and lower another, with a day in between.

I think that you have to do what time will allow. You're right, get the big stuff in (squats, bench, rows, etc.) in the gym. Leave the ab work, curls, lateral raises, etc. for home.

You have to make do with what you have available so yes, you can make this work.
