Hi
I am new here.
The "Chin between chairs" exercise is on my fitness plan. I tried to do it as shown on the website and it's supposed to work the upper back muscles, but all I felt was neck strain so I gave up. I tried different placement of my arms and body to no avail.
My question is, is there an alternative?

Where are you pulling the bar too? If you are pulling to your neck try pulling the bar a little lower down. Or push your head back not into your chest.

I am not pulling the bar anywhere. The exercise states that you pull your body up. You start with 2 chairs about 4 ft apart, lay the broom handle across them, lie underneath, place your hands on the broom handle and pull yourself up.
I don't have access to gym equipment or a trainer so that's why I'm stuck with the old broom handle and chairs!

Are you pulling your neck up to the bar, or your back is what Pemdas meant. When you pull your body up to the bar you should be pulling to about mid chest. If you're pulling to your neck that could explain the strain.
