Hello all,

I have a few questions that I would like some light shed on :)

I mentioned this in my first thread on the welcome board but thought I should try this one as well. I have been told that the post workout shake should always be within the first 30 minutes of the workout for maximum effect. Is this true? For the pre-workout shake ... how long before a workout should it be? I have read that it should be also within an hour. The problem is this; the protein powder I use requires 4 scoops to get the 1000 calories, 52g of protein, etc, etc. The powder (even though is flavored in either vanilla or strawberry) dont taste all that well. They just taste .. powdery. SO, I dummy it up by adding a bunch of stuff to the shake. After adding some milk or OJ, a banana, and some fruit, the shake ends up being about 3 - 4 cups of liquid. Any less than that and the shake is just too powdery and frankly, quite gross. If I have all that liquid within an hour of my workout, I feel like I want to throw up but if I take it earlier, it may not have the same effect. Any advice?

Moving on ... I created my workout and all is well. Its a 5 day workout with 2 rest days in between. Nowhere on the first week do I see any ab exercises. How much deviation from the program is allowable? Meaning, I will follow the workout plan as suggested but ADD IN say 3 sets of ab workouts every 2nd day or something to that effect. Would that be acceptable?

Thats it for now. I think everyone is advance for their time.

I would say find a better protein! I use "ON whey"
24 g of protein per scoop and I can mix it in 1/2-1 cup of water. It taste really good so you would be looking at 2 scoops maybe in some milk to meet your needs.

I went to a place here in Ottawa, Canada called Popeye's. They suggested QuickMass. The dude said it was one of the best ones on the market.

I dont really think the problem is with the powder but more my extremely picky taste buds.

But on your recommendation, I will try to find another one that only requires 1 or 2 scoops.

Any brands/types I should stay away from? Ya know, bad press or poor results that you have heard of?

On whey is a terrible product. If it does contain what is says than it costs more to make it than it sells for. Find a whey isolate. I like synthetek.

I get the house brand at Nutrition House here in Canada... not sure if they exist in Ottawa or not. Chocolate is the one I go with... mix it with some milk, natural peanut butter an banana and flax meal and I'm good to go. That's what I take post workout.

Pre workout I eat eggs.

ON whey is a great product. If you look there are several other companies that have similar products at a similar price that ON whey is. Also it has to have those ingre. in it as regulated by the fda.
