I have the worst case of poison ivy in my life...anyway sucked it up and went to the doc...prescribed prednizone.
My question: I am currently doing a WS workout schedule 4 days per week, taking creatine, and eating about 600-700 calories over my maintenance depending on the day.
I've been doing some reading and came across this line on wikipedia "Adrenal suppression occurs if prednisone is taken for longer than 7 days, a condition which means the body is unable to synthesize natural corticosteroids and becomes dependent on the prednisone taken by the patient."
I wasn't able to ask my doc, and he's out of town now for two weeks on vacation. No liabilities or anything here, but is this going to affect my training/body in any adverse ways for what I'm attempting to accomplish?
ecle, I would think not because you should only be taking it for a short time for your poison ivy (yuck!). My mother has taken prednizone for years for Asthma. It does have long term side effects, but I wouldn't think these would be very damaging to you in the short time you take them. Since your Dr. is out of town for two weeks, why don't you try calling your pharmacist? They may be able to help. Or the on call Dr. in your Dr. office who is handling your Dr's business in his absence. Good luck!
