So I had my BMI analysis at the gym today and it was 47% BMI according to their calculations...105lb of body fat. The lady asked me what my weight goal was and I told her 150lbs. She thought that was a bit of a stretch for me from what I gathered. I am currently 229lbs. according to her scale, and she thought my target weight should be 155-160lbs. What do you think, and what should be my caloric, carb, and fat intake to reach the goal?

Not enough information to tell you much, but that being said, the idea is small steps. Looking at it overall is a bit overwhelming, and makes it hard to see a light at the end of the tunnel as you diet.

You should simply start your diet regimine, take your losses as they come, and see where you feel comfortable at. 150 may well be unrealistic, even unattainable for you.

Find out what amount of caloric intake keeps you exactly the same now, no gain, no loss. That is your beginning point, you cannot just pick some number out of the sky. Intelligent caloric reduction will work, guess work will more often than not result in no results or quick loss and then a stale period where you end up just giving up. (this is normally due to the first caloric cut being so large and out of the ordinary to your body it fights back).

why would 150lbs be unrealistic or unattainable? If you eat a clean diet and exercise regularly wouldnt it be attainable?

I think if your goal is to be 150 lbs, I not see why you cannot reach that if you want it bad enough! PROVE THEM WRONG!

I don't think trying to get back to where you were at 16 is realistic. I'm sure you were 130 lbs. when you were 14 (just a random guess), but that is unrealistic to try to get back to since your body has grown so much since then.

Maybe a more realistic goal (at least the short term, you can always adjust once you hit your first goal) would be to look at where you were at 18, 19, or 20 and start with that.

Ok, so that would put it around 175 or so. I am not obsessed with the scale, so as long as I can get to a point where I am excited about buying new clothes instead of dreading it, and look forward to time alone with my husband instead of dreading it because of how uncomfortable I feel, that will be the real signs of progress in my mind.

Thank you for all of your input guys! I spend more time on here than myspace now, and that is definitely a good thing!
