Hey, I read that to build mass you should lift heavy and do about 6-8 reps for the first two sets then lower the weight just a little and do about 10 reps for the last set. Does this really work and will it work for all the muscles? Thanks.

You build mass primarily by eating. As for a mass routine... you'll need to do more then 3 sets. You need to find what works best for your individual body. What works for me in the gym my not benefit you at all. Training is a lot of trial and error.

A tried and true 5X5 work out is a good place to start and adjust from there. And as was stated before eating is the only real way to put on mass, Also it should be healthy foods not junk food. Your body must have caloric excess to have anything left over to build mass with. It can happen without but the gains are minimal.
