Is there an increased or decreased benefit to upping the number of reps I do on a particular exercise? I normally to bicep curls with a 70 pound bar, doing 2-3 sets of 10 reps. To mix things up, last time out I used a 40 pound bar and did 2-3 sets of 20 reps.

The low weight/high reps seemed to work my muscles more, but I wanted to check with some more knowledgeable people before I switch over to this routine regularly.

Low weigth/high reps = muscle endurance
High weithg/low reps = muscle building/strength

I don't see any point in doing 20 rep sets unless it warm up, recovery work or your trying to push blood into to area. If you can do 20 reps the weight is to light.
