Right I can almost go forever on a cross trainer and find it easier to burn say 400 calories than I would on the treadmill. On the treadmill I really feel the burn even if I burn equal calories.
I love my treadmill yet sometimes after a serious workout I don't feel I have the energy to use it (only HIIT on non weight days), hence, the cross-trainer. Yet I still burn off the same calories.
I kinda feel cheated after using the cross trainer...is this right? Is the treadmill actually more beneficial?

I wouldn't rely on the machine telling you how many calories you've burned...there are far too many variables. Nothing wrong with the cross trainer, but if you find it easy and can go forever, then you're not getting as good a workout as you are when you "feel the burn" on the treadmill. Sounds like you need to crank up the resistance or increase the pace on your cross trainer. Variety is your best weapon and HIIT a few times a week will get you where you want to go. Good Luck!

HIIT = High Intensity Interval Training. If you use the search buddy on this site and type HIIT you'll get tons of info on it. A basic example of HIIT would be to ride a stationary bike for 20 min alternating 1 min at high speed and 1 min at low speed...always set a warmup and cooldown period as well.

I'm sorry, what exactly is HIIT? Am I right in saying that it is speeding up and reducing your heartrate? What does it stand for?
