this may be a dumb question, but does anyone here weight train in cycles. i.e. 6 weeks of training to gain muscle and then 6 weeks training for weight loss??
I just bought a book that has such a program. I read it cover to cover twice already and the stuff in it makes sense. i was just curious if anyone had any experience with this type of training.

Do you change your diet every 6 weeks also? Without that I doubt that changing how you lift will make a huge difference. Most gains/losses are created in the kitchen.
I'd stick to one or the other until you reach a predetermined goal and then switch. Other than that it would be hard to hit your goals.

Yes my diet will change during the 2nd cycle. But what this guy is saying is that it is extremely tough to gain muscle AND lose fat at the same time.
According to the plan, you'll gain 1-lb of muscle a week in the 1st cycle, and then after changing diet and exercises in the 2nd cycle lose 2lbs of fat per week. I am giving it a go and will post any updates.

My only thoughts is that it seems like the body takes longer to adapt to changes than that time frame gives, but again I'm not a doctor or anything so I could be wrong.
But heck ya, give it a shot and let us know how it works.
