Cardio and mass question.

Is it ok to do about 20-30 minutes of cardio first thing in the morning if you are doing a mass program?(for me at 200 lbs, thats about 3800 calories, 200-250g of protein, 500 carbohydrates). I want to build muscle but keep the fat gains relatively low.
Btw i just finished a football season as a lineman at 220 lbs with more fat than i wanted because of the position i played, so after the season ended i dieted/weight trained/did cardio. Now that i lost weight, i lost a lot of strenght/muscle so i want to build that up. But if i do this mass program, will i just end up where i was around the end of the football season (5'11,220lbs, somewhat overweight but nothing crazy?

Also the reason why i decided upon this mass program after my goal was to get ripped is because i just got a magazine that has a 3 month mass program, then in the april issue they are going to show a program to get ripped. So i figured i would follow it and be very organized and what not.

Raide Protirn higher bring down Carbs and bring up good fats.

Do cardio on off days or at night and weight earlier in the day or if you must cardio after lifting.

If you really want to bulk-up I would cut cardio out all together until your ready to start cutting back down!

Probably the most effective mass program is a sensible diet increase. Just as you do when dieting, use the same approach when trying to gain. A 20% increase in calorie intake will be nice. For instance if you are doing 2000 calories, a 20% increase would result in 400 calorie increase, while a 3000 calorie diet would result in a 600 calorie uptick, etc.

Do this and let it work, then increase when gains stop somewhat proportionally(smartly). If you randomly increase calories as most do as they think bulk is a free for all with food, yes, you will surely pack on some fat. As your bodyfat gets higher, unfortunately the more proportional or linear your fat gains will become.

This is where gain/lean cycles are ideal. Gain for a period of time, then 'harden' for a period of time.
