Hello,
I'm 5"4' and weigh (last time I checked) 110 pounds. Obviously I would like to gain some weight and mass. I have read up quite a bit on weight training and nutrition ect...
I would like to start working out and have read I should stick to compound excersises with higher weights and lower reps. What I would plan to do is work out 3-4 times a week doing squats, deadlifts, rows, bench presses, and crunches. I'm just not sure how many reps/sets to do. Should I add anything to this? I know I would need to eat like a horse too..which will be hard, lol.
second thing is I am a swimmer and I still would like too. i have read I shouldnt do any cardio- its counteractive to gaining weight. Should I not swim? I feel its good resistance exercise too, although you do burn alot of calories while doing it.
any advice on what I should do would be much appreciated... thank you!!

If you enjoy the swimming, I wouldn't give it up. You probably need to increase your calories, making healthy choices of course. Lift heavy, probably in the 6-8 rep range range/ 3-4 sets each exercise. Try one of the programs from this site by clicking on "exercise programs" at the top of the page Welcome to FT and good luck!
