Im giong to start buying some things for my home gym but I dont know whats best out there to get. I could get a regular bench or spend a bit more and get a sit down gym with the chest press, legs and pull down bar. Is it worth the extra $$ to get a good set like that? or am I better off just getting a bench.
I would recommend starting off with a barbell and a decent stack of weights. You can do most exercises with just this. After that, some dumbbells are great also, especially ones that are interchangeable.
I personally don't like machine type weights, they limit the range of motion and don't recruit as many stabilizer muscles. You can accomplish most workouts with a barbell/dumbbells
