Alright, I scoured old posts, but couldn't find an answer to this:

During leaning cycle, when doing cardio on off-lifting days, wait 45 min. after cardio before taking "nutrients", then take a meal 45 min. after nutrients. Does "nutrients" mean to wait the 45 minutes and then take a PWO shake? I didn't know if a whey shake should be taken after JUST cardio (when there's no lifting).

Thanks!
Justin

If as you mention fat loss is your goal, simply wait about 45 minutes, then have your next regularly scheduled meal.

I would like to add to the post that this is dependent on what you do for cardio. If you are jeapordizing recovery in any way, then do not wait an hour, get in some carbs and protein. Consuming carbs/protein post-training, even on a fat-loss/contest diet is the way to go if needed. Studies show that if glycogen depleted, fat will continue to be utilized while using the carbs for needed glycogen replenishment. The body is smart. Even if it did impair fat utilization, said utilization is generally fairly small immediately after training. You might burn a few more grams of fat if you wait an hour to eat but that's not going to amount to very much. And you do it by compromising your recovery.

Alright, thanks a lot for the info!

As for the cardio, I alternate between standard and HIIT, where on lifting days I will either run (or lift) in the morning, and then wait a good 7 hours before lifting (or running).

Thanks bb1!

And what about doin cardio 1 hour before bed and eatin a shake 30 min after cardio (25 gram prot and 4 carbs)

I know i shouldn't eat any carbs before bed while dieting but i couldn't find any cassein without it in belgium :(. Is it bad? Should I start the cardio some hour before in order to eat more carbs after?

i lift 5/7 at 10

:)4 gr. of carbs will have no effect. Besides, if your body needs nourishment, you have to feed it. I don't know where this magic "witching hour" came in where your body will magically store carbs as fat no matter what after this hour. The body utilizes nutrients as needed.
