I have been eating a low fat mac and cheese frozen dinner with a can of tuna added to it after I work out. What do you think? Is it a good carb to protein ratio?
Thanks

Other than just sounding completely nasty...? hehe never liked tuna melts.. The cheese is still probably not too great for you.

I LOVE TUNA MAC! What is the breakdown? Carbs-Protein-Fat? What is the brand, I am always looking for meal options. Sounds good to me.

As long as it is low in fat the cheese wouldn't be too bad I wouldn't think. I dig the lowfat or nonfat cheese slices (Bordens or Kraft Cheddar), they have 5 grams of protein and very little or no fat. I must eat 10 a day. Every little bit of protein helps big man!

Check the sodium content and the amount of preseratives they throw in frozen dinners. If you read the ingredients and you can't pronounce something, its usually not that good for you (general rule).

Pretty much. Drain the water and mix. I usually use Healthy Harvest whole wheat noodles and add fat free cheddar slices and a tad of skim milk. It's pretty tasty if you like tuna.

That sounds a little heavy for a post-workout meal. After you workout, your body is desperate for food/nutrients. It wants to rebuild ASAP, so you should give it food that can be absorbed quickly. Drinks/shakes are easily processed by the bod. A high carb drink (gatorade, powerade, hawaiian punch...) along with a whey protien shake is about the best thing your body could have. For max results: Stay away from real fruit drinks because they contain sugars that are absorbed much slower.

Good Luck!

I have always heard the opposite that you must consume solid food with a protein to card ratio( 40 to 60? maybe) within an hour after lifting, plus a protein shake like you stated.

Yeah, that is what I do. I mean, skinnyguy is right about the post workout protein shake, however you need to follow that up with a MEAL. The meal should have complex carbs and protein. Chicken, steak, potato, veggies.....

Oh, but mac and cheese with tuna is delicious! Add some peas with it for a complete meal. My kids eat it up and so do we... (well, I should say "did" for me). May have to save that for a cheat! LOL
