Several people that I talk to say that you should be hitting all muscle groups twice a week hard…is their point valid, would you say? Is this difficult to do without overtraining? I made a plan up, what should I shave off do you think? is this over training?

Thanks,

Grant

I say twice per week is ideal for most trainees. Less volume, more frequency. Remember, stimulation, not annihalation is the key to growth. If you can't stimulate the bulk of the fast twitch fibers in a muscle group with a heavy set of 6-10 by the 6th rep or so, chances are you will not. Doing more sets will not cure this, just tax the CNS and make it difficult to recover.

So what your saying is if you can hit a muscle hard on one exercise one-three sets, its just as good as lifting with several excises?..What do you man by taxing the CNS?

Thank You,

Grant

Central Nervous System. When you train too hard, at some point you cease to work the muscle and are taxing the CNS. This is difficult to recover from.
