For years I have only lifted once a day, taking a day or two off before lifting again for that particular body part. Due to a change in work, long commute, and lack of time, I have purchased some nice equipment for home. My question is, can I lift for example, legs in the morning, then chest in the evening, then next morning do back, then shoulders the next evening,,, and so on. Still giving a day or two rest on particular parts. I'm not a body builder by any stretch, but just want to make a good push for the last few years before 50.. Thanks.

I do not see a problem other than even though you are resting certain body parts others may not really get the rest they need. Chest for example works chest, shoulders, triceps, back. all to a degree, so if in the morning you do legs then evening do chest, then the next day do shoulders, well you can see that the shoulders are not going to be at 100%. If you have the time maybe doing a 3-4 day split may be better where in the morning or evening you do the weights, then the cardio stuff.

i've gotten some great advice from a guy who does bodybuilding about splitting up different muscle groups on different days. but my question is, if i worked my back and biceps on Sun. and i'm still tight and sore today, Tues., how am I going to reach my true potential if I work shoulders and triceps this afternoon. isnt that overworking the muscles? the guy told me not to spilt up upper and lower body because isolating either the upper or lower body during each workout allows the blood to circulate in one area instead of being spread all throughout your body. what r ur thoughts/suggestions?

I am confused as to what you are asking? Working back and Biceps on sunday then with that area sore working 2 completely groups on tues is fine. IN my opinion. I am most often still sore from a chest tri shoulder work out on monday when I do legs and back and bi on wed.
