I don't get it... whenever I get around 9 or 10 hours of sleep... it's like I'm Superman or something... I went to the gym and benchpressed 115 lbs around 11 or 12 times normally I could only do that around 8... I also went up in a lot of my other lifts including bicep curls... whenever I first began weight training I went up a lot in weight by going to sleep really early... could sleep really be that big of a factor when it comes down to your diet and training etc?

recovery and sleep are vital....when you train intensely....you need more and more sleep to allow your body to repair the damage you have caused...this is why increasing total calories and sleep is so vital....I can sleep for almost a whole day if given the opportunity....especially after some intense workouts....I have noticed that I need sometimes as much as 10-12 hours of sleep to be fully rested....seems overly high...but I feel barely rested with 9-10 hours of sleep usually...no1 I know sleeps this much...not even close....8 hours to most my friends is a lot of sleep as many of them sleep as little as 3-5 hours a night....some average 7-8 and say they are fully refreshed...however none of them lift weights or do anything that stresses their body to the extent I do....my best suggestion is to listen to your body...no1 knows it better than you...and to react accordingly....lifting weights, gaining strength, muscle, athleting performance, or any other characteristic you choose is as much art as it is a science....we are all unique individuals...so what others suggest to us are only general guidelines...
