I am actively training for a marathon in June, and am running 5 days a week for an average of 30 miles. What I am wondering is should I be lifting 3 or 5 days per week. I was lifting 3 days a week, and was getting bored with it, so I switched to 5 and now am more enthusiastic in the gym, but move tired over all.

Sounds like overtraining....I would actually switch to a less frequent...more intense workout....a powerlifting workout might suit your needs well(sort of like doing sprints to train for a long distance race...it works)...or even just doing few compound freeweight exercises 2-3 days a week....5 days running+5 days lifting weights=overtraining....
I also suggest you start taking 5g of fish oi morning and night...for a total of 10g daily....you're burning tons of calories and this will prevent most of your muscle from being broken down...
Finally LISTEN to your body...that's the key...don't be afraid to take a day off here or there...if you need it...I wouldn't train for more than 3 days in a row without taking a day off....

You are overtraining. The typical marathon training cycle is only 18 weeks. this will be a good reference for you.

On the cross training days, do lower body lifting, and on the rest days do upper body lifting. Just make sure that you don't cheat on the long days of the program. good luck and consider yourself lucky if you can just keep your body weight level and not lose anything during the training cycle.

Being concerned more with overall endurance rather than mass ...how do you do the weight and reps what I mean is do you increment the weight on each succesive rep or do you worry more about amount of reps
