When doing deadlifts with multiple repititions do i lower the weight to just above the floor or is it better to put it down and repeat from the starting position? I'm not training to put up huge deadlift numbers just to add some strength. I am not sure if brining it close to the floor is correct before pulling it back up.

You can let the bar touch the ground, you just don't want to take the stress off the muscles, in other words, don't let the body relax.
