Weights in a cut phase

They say you can't add muscle and cut fat simultaneously. Does that mean if I'm on a cutting phase, and i exercise my back muscles, for example (or chest or arms etc.) full blast, I should expect no results in muscle composition whatsoever?

You will get leaner, and the actual muscles will be easier to see. But cutting and gaining cannot be done for the most part. Some may gain a bit BUT the cutting part means to lower calories etc...to gain mass most need to add calories...see the inherent problem? Good Luck!
