I wanted to start a topic here about wht lessons you have learned in the gym/home workouts. I mean what things you found that helped you out in your workouts....I will startI found that I knew nothing about intensity and about the right way to workout until I came here. I now know what I was doing wrong. I learned that I was not lifting with enough direction and that lead to not enough weight and that lead to stalled progress....next? ---------------------------- IF YOU CAN STILL ITCH YOUR NOSE AFTER ARM DAY, GO DO ANOTHER SET!!! |

Have found by first reading this forum then actually doing, that free weights are so much better overall then fixed machines. Still use the odd machine, but I have noticed improvements in the 3wks I have changed most of my workout (especially) upper body to free weights. |

I used to be very self-concious, always hiding behind big jackets, and big sweaters. One thing that I have learned is that no matter how big, or small you are, who cares what other people think. The only thing that matters is how you feel about yourself. The lesson that I've learned is that with a bit of dedication and hard work, anything can be improved, or changed! |

I've recently learned that it's good to try lifting heavier weights than I would normally try (probably not as much an issue for men as for women). Also been going to failure on my last set - forcing those last reps out is really worth it! I was able to get my bench press 1RM up from 85 to 100lbs in 7 weeks! :)Now...I need a new workout plan. Some feet dragging on that one. |

The biggest thing that I have learned about fitness is the weightlifting is the key. I had been on many diets and lots of cardio, but weight training as gotten me the best results and really biulds your metabolism. And also that women don't get bulky muscles like guys do, so we can lift heavy without getting masculine.-------------- Lisa Just laugh about it.... |

I learned that re-shaping you body doesnt come over night. It takes many different components of a fitness program to get where you want to go. I have learned form is way better over trying to lift heavy weight with incorrect for. I have also leaned that people at FT know just about everything and can always help you through a rut!! |

I have learnt that just by going to the gym and lifting weights doesn’t get you anywhere. There are lot of things involved that you need to know, like discipline, proper nutrition, adequate rest and lot of research on your body type. Also learnt that weight training is not a "piece of cake" but really hard work and it's all made easy at FT. Three cheers to FT! -------------- "The Sunny Side of Life" |

I have learnt, like johnguy, that using free weights does so much more than using machines. I'm also not afraid to ask for help and try new things anymore.:x -------------- *My body only feels good when it burns! *Little voice telling you to quit? I've learned I can have as great a body as I'm willing to work for. Also, I've developed a real "sweet pain" tooth. Nothing feels better than hard work.-------------- Think you can or think you can't; either way you're right--Goethe |
