Hello I am a 43 year old male who has rarely strength trained in my life. Two years ago I weighed in at 296. I am 6' tall. Thanks to Freetrainers and a committment to get healthy I now weigh 245. I have been serious in my weight training for about 8 months now. I follow the progressive gains routien for me from F.T. I know I am putting on some muscle. My Question is how long does it take to gain enough muscle to look like I work out. I love working out and believe I will never quit.

Congrats raiderfan! Cowboy fan myself...but I won't hold it against ya!
Red's correct, 1 of two thing has to occur to show that you work out.
1)lower your BF% to about 15%
2)get massively huge muscles
It's easier to lower the BF% as massively huge muscles can take years to accomplish. Good luck!

Thnaks, that is what I was thinking. I am guessing about 3 years of consistant weight training and dropping another 25 lbs. My body fat % is still way too high. Does that sound reasonable. I try to walk the line of loosing fat and gaining muscle. so far I am doing pretty good. It is slow going but It is the end result of being fit and trim that I want to live out.

If you're training hard and being strict on your diet you could do it sooner then that. I went from 165 down to now 137 since March 05. That's with watching my diet and weight training 3 days a week, if you're able to see my pic very well that was taken 6 months apart.

Wow 1 that is good inspiration. I will kick it up a notch on counting my calories and watch my diet even more. I only do an hour of cycleing per week and work out five days a week. I have been thinking that I do not want to sacrafice muscle growth for cardio because I want to ramp up my metabolism. I have a protien shake for breakfast, a protien bar for lunch, usualls snack on almonds or peanuts along the way. Then I eat a healthy dinner and protien after my workout in the evening before bed. Perhaps I need to find a way to add more cardio.
