Hi,
I am 29 yrs old & desperatly trying to shift the fat once & for all!
I have so far lost Two stone, & still weigh 16 st 10 Ibs (234Ibs). I really must start to incorporate exercise into my week....
Am I too fat to jog? I have always fancied this type of exercise but am worried about being to heavy!?
Are there any other big joggers out there? Or an 'ex' fatties who find that jogging has helped them with the ole weight loss?
Hope to hear from someone soon

When I was in college I lost 40 lbs or so to get down to 245. I jogged every day for a t least a mile, with no problems. But I started of slowly, and at one point did a mile in uber 8 mins at 240 lbs. I am trying to reach that again. So walk at first then work up to it.

welcome dainty! both ravenwolf and mutt are right, you should start out at a walking pace just to avoid injury that might hold you up even longer, if you have access to a stepper, that is really great too or maybe try walking up and down a flight of stairs. in any case, there are a lot of heavy people that i know who can jog my butt off!!!LOL, it just depends on the body type. if you absolutely have to jog to feel satisfied, start out really slow and if you feel any discomfort or pains that are unfamiliar, stop right away and walk. good luck! i know you'll do a great job!

Dainty, plenty of races have Clydesdales divisions, so you should be fine. Just start slow like everyone else said.

Thanks for your lovely messages peeps :-) It was great to hear from you, & I hope to chat with you all again sometime.
I actually go to the gym 3 times a week so far, & do a fast walk on the ole treadmill - but it still takes me 18 mins to do ONE MILE!!! How unfit must I be!? lol Oh well, guess I will just have to persevere.......
bye 4 now

My wife was bigger (as in to much fat) at one time in her life. She also had high B/P. She had to watch her heart rate when walking or jogging because of the bp. Now her bp is in the normal range after lifting and cardio. Just keep monitoring your heart rate. Good luck and let us know how you do.
