At least where I am (Australia), their food is reasonably healthy. We have lots of salads etc to pick from (and no they're not coated in mayonnaise, pickles or ketchup!). Certainly beats the Maccas of 10 years ago. :)

Did you watch the movie 'Supersize Me'? That was a huge eye opener. Did you know that the crispy chicken salad has more fat and calories than a big mac? You have got to watch what happens to that guy throughout the course of the movie. I'll never eat or let my children eat fast food again.

Yeah I saw that. Very disturbing that the salad was worse than the burgers, but I'd really want to see results from an independent company.

The salad has a lot more to it then a big mac though. 1 salad will fill me up but it would take probably 2 big macs to fill me up. I could still be in the wrong here though.

It isn't the salad itself that is fattening. It is their dressing. If you get a salad and go put your own dressing it is like buying a bagged salad at a grocery store.

Salt, grease, processed meat... a deadly but most delicous combo. I find at my age an occasional Micky D's stop is inevitable when I'm with friends so I just grab a the chicken sandwich and a water. I ask for it without the mayo sauce stuff but that rarely happens...

Guns don't kill people, but I do if I feel like my family or I am at risk. Which is why I take my gun to McD's.

Oh sorry...I'll shut up now.

Anyone got the nutrition fact of the foods? A big mac or a quaterpounder with no cheese and no souse can't be THAT bad and if you take water with it and a salad instead of the frize it can be a "half cheat meal".

i think that eating the MC donalds like once a month is not a bad thing. we get a problem when people eat there like 3 meals a day. my friend used to work there and he told me that its not a clean place any way. i meann he said that if something falls on the floor they dont throw it away or even like wash it they just use it ewwwwww. i wouldnot want to eat there. (no offense if any one loves mc donalds or works there or any thing.)

Heh. My college cafeteria has a 92% health rating, and the local McDonalds has a 98%. That's sad.

Places like McD's market to their clientel. It is a business and they practice their business to make money. Would you do differently if you owned them?

Taking responsiblity for ones own actions has to factored in.

That being said, they have come out with some good stuff. The fruit and walnut salad for instance is very good. Choicess, it is all about making choices.

That's the thing though. I'm sick of all these people coming out and saying "Oh, you don't get fat off McDonalds if you pick the right items."

The only problem with Spurlock-haters is that they have to realize it was targetted to the average American - people who ate burgers and fries regularly. These people didn't go into McDs getting a diet water and a single french fry (they didn't have the choices they have now when he did the movie). He ate as an average American eats. He showed the dangers of eating McD every day for every meal, something you'd think people would say "Hey, that's pretty stupid."

I'm sure they have healthy choices now. I'm sure that you don't have to get a Big Mac and fries and large soda now. It is all about choices, but its hard to make the choice when the healthy options weren't available at the time he made the movie.

Yep, all about choices. Our society had come down to the "blame game". Who can we blame our problems on.

I remember when we took some responsibility for our actions. If I hit my finger with the hammer, I said dam, that hurt, and move on. Now we want to sue Sears!

Actually an alderman in my home town did a 30 day McD's stint to see if the movie was biased at all. The difference was that he ate healthily, made good choices. The Grilled chicken with a salad, water, etc. He stayed in very good health and actually lost ~15lbs while doing it. Its all about choices, people.
