Thx Wrestler. I have goofed around for many years adn used excuses to not workout and eat properly until I developed high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and a resulting start to a heart condition and finally took life and fitness seriously.

So I figured since my Dr. told me he could write me a Rx for meds or a Rx for a lifestyle change I'd take the lifestyle and this is the first thing that popped in my head to help with motivation.

I just bought a Marcy 4000 Smith system, so now I workout to keep from having a $500 coat hanger.

I am now wearing size 36 pants, and have not been this skinny since I got out of the Army! My goal is size 34 waist, and in 5 years to resemble the guy from the Detour protein bar ads (http://www.detourbar.com/html/ad_09.html)

Nice machine, keep up the excellent work.

My goal is to get back to my high school weight of 185 (currently 235) and ultimately off my diabetic meds that I got for christmas!

To help acheive that goal I purchased a ParaBody CM3 and an elliptical 2 months ago, my better half was not impressed. That gives me all the motivation I could possibly want! I workout, so I don't have to hear those words....., "Nice boat anchor honey!!" just kidding... Honesty, she is quite surprised at the progress in 7 short weeks. Clothes hang differenlty, pant are getting too loose.

It keeps me from picking up another cigarette (Reason# 16). Thanks to changing my lifestyle it is almost three years without a smoke and once I quit I began to care about my health again. The high from a good workout is a hundred times better than the nicotine from an entire pack.

Great list Ravenbeauty!

Cheers

I'd never been heavy until ten years ago, when I started my internet business and sat down for 20 hours in front of this here computer.

In May of 2005, I could not lift a ten pound flagstone without sitting down to rest. I thought i was going to die.

Joined a gym. Hired a personal trainer. Went on a calorie deficit, non processed food life change program and I'm almost at goal weight...
Not sure what that is...when the timer pops, I'll know.
Current body fat is approximately 26% down from 48%....weight is 129, down from 180.

I've got muscles and it's getting to the point where I am starting to see abs....

And, I'm hooked....it gets me away from the computer...it's a feeling like i've never had before...I was always active; but, this is different.
Being strong and muscular....i like it.

i don't work out for anybody but myself, i can care less what women think, i see too many family members and friends with health problems, it keeps you unhappy, unhealthy, makes your life a lot harder, and it'll cost you a pretty penny in the long run with all your hospital bills, so i said fuck that, and hit the gym.

I work out mostly for BMX, so that I can get stronger and do better in the sport. For myself, so that I can be more confident with my body and know that I am doing all that I can to look good, and also partially for the guys :]

1) the endorphin flood is comparable to sex.

2) severe depression, worse because it tends to hit me irregularly is something i've had to struggle with my entire life, and a hard workout is the best catharsis.

3)it gives me something to be proud of.

Looking at the photos of women who replied to the thread would give any guy/woman a good enough reason to work out. My goal is to enjoy life with kids and anything that comes to mind and not let my health or any physical inhitors prevent me from doing what I enjoy.

You nearly summed up all my reasons. I know I'm a woman, but I can still fanticize about being superman. I have to add that it's time away from playing the role of wife and mother. Someone else mentioned the endorphin's. I'll second that. I'm an endorphin addict.

i do it for myself. the high I get after a personal best....the stress relief....the feeling I am superman after a grueling workout....to know that I can adjust better to anything that comes my way...to be healthier.....to be more athletic....for the chuckles when people ask me if I play football/wrestle or box......to have my own time....looking big keeps the a-holes away.....
