okay, here you go. Go to the bottom of this page and you will see the "Search fitBuddy" icon at the left. In the empty space on the right of that, type in "protein shakes" and click the "Search fitBuddy" icon. It will bring up a page of different threads in which this topic has previously been discussed. Click on each of the titled links and read. After reading a few of them, you will understand how important protein is for your body while training. Protein for the muscles is like gasoline for a vehicle. GOOD LUCK!!

zak - what ravenbeauty said in a very polite way is that this question has been asked several thousand times and it doesn't take much effort on your part to find the answer to your questions. You'll get all the help on here that you could possibly want but you have to put forth a little effort.

Protein Shakes are a very good nutritional supplemet, great meal replacement. I usually consume in morning after a workout because it has equal amounts of protein and carbs and that's it. If your looking to concume a bit more calories and you want to bulk up, then do one at lunch or towards evening, or whenever you work out. They are a perfect meal replacement, awesome for post workouts. Have you tried E-bay for shakes? They are cheap there. I use Ultramet and these are very good. :)
