Im 9 weeks in to an FT program and sometimes I awake at night with what feels like a calf cramping..its definitly a pain in middle of my calf but it obviously isnt bad enough to totally wake me up to deal with it.Thats why Im unsure if its actually a cramp or just an ache..any ideas as to what may be causing this. The thing is it doesnt neccesarily happen the night after a leg workout.I take multi vits and pretty sure Im getting enough calcium.

Are you getting enough water? If so, how about potassium? A slight potassium deficiency can cause cramping. You may also want to simply try stretching before bed. I find that on my leg days if I stretch before bed, I'm not as sore the next morning. Hope you figure it out soon; I know how annoying minor pains can be. ;)

Yes water, but also magnesium...... (eat chocolate!!! :o) And never forget to stretch those muscles. Try to stretch the calves when it hurts (during the night) normally it'll stop the pain.

Have the pains gotten any better?
I had the same problem...of course, along with the EXTREME cramps...I starting drinking more water and making sure I was getting enough potassium.
Good Luck!

I have the same problem with my legs even though I take in enough water and potassium. I have found that if I wiggle my toes when my calf cramps the pain goes away instantly.

I am 14 and my calf, theighs, and ankles have been killing me. I am in track and my mom thinks this is the cause. Today they hurt so bad I couldn't even get out of bed. I had to stay home from school. There is no swelling that I can see. Everything started hurting 10 times worst than normal yesterday when I tried to get up the stairs. I had to crawl into my bed and now I can somewhat walk but I have to limp. Please help me!

What part hurts? you could have tore a muscle....in which case you should have applied ice for 2 days then heat thereafter...
I am guessing a cramp can be ruled out...
but definitely see a doctor ASAP if the pain doesn't lessen
