Hi,
Just as bropie says it is whatever suits you. I do mine in the mid afternoon as that fits best into my schedule. My results have been fine because I do them consistantly not because of the time of day. Leslie |

I find it that for me it's more productive if I do it in the afternoon. If your like me it takes you a while to fully wake up. If I go in the morning I'm still a little tired. If I go in the afternoon, I'm fully awake and my heart rate is higher, so I can usually lift more. I do know a lot of people that like it better when doing it in the morning though. So as the others said, just find what works best for you and stick with it.

Morning may have an edge for a couple reasons. One, test levels are usually higher, and second, you have all day to replenish/nourish the muscles as compared to maybe one or two meals depending on when you train. Other than that, the main thing is to get it in when you can. -------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... bb1fit@freetrainers.com |

So I guess it's pretty bad that I go at 9pm, about 2-3 hours before I go to sleep?

It is not bad, it is never bad. There may be best case scenarios, but go when you can. You will still gain and benefit. Just do not go to bed on an empty stomach if you are wanting to gain some muscle.-------------- If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.... bb1fit@freetrainers.com |

bb I thoght hormone levels where highest at about noon or so? In bio class in highschool we talked about biorythms and junk....
However in the morning, your glycogen stores would be lower would they not? Sinc eyou have had only 1 meal.......and fasted for 8 hours? -------------- " The only true eye, is your minds eye"- plato |

Best to take it everyday to keep your protein level up.. You grow more on the days that you rest then you do the days you work out. So you don't want to deprive your body of any protein that you normally have.

its not going to make much of a differnece if you dont take it on the days you dont workout, as long as you are reaching your daily protein intake values. protein shakes are best postworkout to get protein into your muscles quickly, and taking them any other time is more a function of adding to your daily protein intake to reach your prescribed daily value

If you depleted glycogen stores just overnight, we would be in trouble!! LOL...it is in fact very hard to deplete glycogen stores. The last week of a contest we do this, and believe me, it is no fun. You had to first off be low carb for a while, then basically no carbs for 3 days with balls to the wall workouts for 3 days, (all high rep, superset, tri set stuff with no rest between supersets). Very tough and no fun.

Does my PWO Protein Shake suffice? It's got around 50g of protein. Or should I try to take in some solid food even though I'm not hungry at all. Thanks for you advice.

pwo take a shake with 1/4 your bodyweight in protein and 1/2 your bodyweight in carbs.. eat a meal about 30- 45 mins after that.
personally, i take my creatine and gatorade (33g carbs) immediately postworkout, go home and shower, then eat a meal with my post workout protein shake (which is about a total of 30- 45 mins after my workout) |
