OK, here is a bit of a Mia Culpa from a newbie:

Today is my day. Today I will change the way I live my life from here on out.

No more "junk food" (not that I was a big eater of it anyway...)

No more alcohol (this is going to be toughie for me, as this is my biggest weakness)

No more wasting time doing trivial things that do not directly benefit my health and well being (particularly playing my computer games to excess)

And most importantly....
NO MORE EXCUSES, NO MORE EXCUSES, NO MORE EXCUSES!!!

I am 30 years old and at a point in my life where I either use it or lose it forever. I have been through a lot of physical abuse (surgies, illnesses, hereditary issues) and now is my time to take life by the reigns and start taking control of my body and my health. I am at the cusp of my physicaly pinnacal and if I don't take advantage of the time I have I will never again be able to completely build myself up into the person I deserve to be.

So here goes: to begin with I am going to start biking to work now that the weather has finally turned relatively descent and I can be outside for more than 5 minutes with developing frostbite. That will be 4 miles in and 4 miles back.

I will be going to the gym for weights 3-4 days a week.

I wiil also spend at least 2-3 days a week hiking in the hills and moutains nearby after my work day is through.

I want to get myself in shape to eventually start doing trail and endurance running. I would love to work my way up to doing some marathons and even the ultra-marathons. I think one of my biggest dreams/goals would be to compete in an Eco-Challenge. I'm a huge fan of the outdoor/hiking/camping thing and believe that I could really enjoy getting involved in something like this.

So now I am off to bed and will be getting up very early (2am) to start my day and begin my new life.

Wish me luck and please feel free to add whatever comments or advise you wish to add. I will be updating this post as often as possible to let you all know of my progress.:)

Motivated and dedicated. Should have been in the Marine Corps! JK. But I do salute you. Keep that attitude and use those goals to keep that drive, it'll be what gets you to the next level. Good luck and keep it up!

Well I couldn't ride my bike into work this morning as I'd prepared for and hoped, as it was raining pretty good when I got up and supposed to be thunder and lightening by 5am. So, I've packed up my gym bag and will be going there after work at 8am for a good workout. We have a lap pool there that I will be taking advantage of. I'll also be doing so weights this afternood before I have to go back into work for another few hours. (I have a pretty stupid work schedule!!)
