My goals are to burn off fat and to get into peak cardio condition. My cardio training consists of a mix of the following:
-30 min. on treadmill, jogging.
-I walk on the treadmill with 30 lbs. in my backpack at an icline of between 5-7 walking @ 3 mph.
-HIIT, I'm not sure if this is intense enough to count as HIIT, but Here's what I do- 1 minutes intervals starting at 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5.... up to 7.0 and back down to 3.0, Then I'll run 7.0 for two more minutes, followed by 5.0 for 2 more minutes.
I usually do 4x a week cardio. This week, for example, I did jogging one day, HIIT the next, weighed incline walking 3 days later and I will either do HIIT or jogging again tomorrow. Is this good?

By the way, the incline walking I do for about 20 minutes, then do a mix of walking and jogging for another 10 to reach 30 min. total.

I'm also wondering if I should increase the cardio to 6 days a week...

how long have you been doing this?? sounds good but I would add stair climbing, rollar blading, biking -- just something different (got friends to play b-ball with??)

I dont know if the backpack thing sounds safe. I understand you are trying to replicate climbing up a mountain with a full sack--- maybe someone else would know about that.

I only walk with the backpack. The last ten minutes of walking/jogging I take the pack off for.
I suck at basketball. It's too bad too because I have the height for it. I'm trying to add variety by doing what I listed- not doing the same thing everyday.
I don't imaging that roller blading would be much of a workout, bikes lead to impotence and I could climb stairs at school- about 15 flights if needed, but I would be in class huffin puffin and sweaty.

whether you suck at bball or not...you'll still be running up and down the court or defending the other player....plus time flies by much faster....I can play hours...treadmill or bike feels like eternity even when i do just 5 minute warm ups...

I definitely agree with you there, menace. Baseball, footbal is more my thing. I have a punching bag I just have to find somewhere to set it up. Hopefully that will be more fun.
