How much weight can my barbell take?
I was thinking this the other day..... basicly its a york 165cm spinlock bar, I dont know how heavy it is would guess 3 pounds? at present I am loading it up with 55kg for my regualr sets, but am progressing quite quickly and was concerned, I am sure it can take more...but allways a worry! I never do my 1 rep max lift as work on my own.
Anyone know or can guestimate that would be great.
It came with 50kg of vynal weights (wish I'd bought the iron ones!) and have bought two 10kg iron plates as needed more.

you might want to check with the store that sold it to you - different ones are made of different things - mine said 250 lbs on the box

The thinner ones vary....
olympic size barbells....the ones that most people should get when buying a barbell...is 45lb typically(they vary slightly).....and can take well over 1000lb of weights....although depending on the stiffness they tend to bend a bit differently.....the stiffer the bar the better....because it's harder to lift as the bar bends under pressure...it can take lower your strength by a couple percent....although this should not be a problem for most people since this typically happens as you get over 400-500 range....
Just buy another used olympic sized barbell...
I would guess it's probably between 250-350lb...although those thinner smaller barbells are quite a bit smaller so I don't know specifically how it affects the bar and at what poundage it will start to significantly bend....
