Hi everyone,

I only have time for one set of weights and 30 mins. of cardio. I am eating quite well : mostly fish, fibrous carbs and brown rice, starchy carbs in the form of fruit or veg, and a bit of dairy - can't eat a lot of dairy.

I'm wondering if I should increase the weight I'm lifting(currently between 25-30lbs) as I still want to lose a bit of weight(20lbs). I was on a plateau and stayed on it for a long time, but now I am finally seeing progress again.

For cardio I'm currently doing 30mins. of HITT which I am really enjoying.

Still I am perplexed with how to get the maximum benefit for my goals.

All opinions are appreciated, I know there are some very knowledgeable people on this board.

Many thanks,

Sidney

Always challenge yourself, this keeps us progressing.

So even though I'm doing high reps, I should increase the weight regardless of trying to lose weight?

I guess it makes sense to keep challenging my body so I will take of the weight right?

I think I'm getting this...

Cheers,

Yes even if you are doing high reps. Eventually muscle adapts to the stress givin it. So if you are doing for example, a 10lb lateral raise with difficulty today, in about 1 month your muscle will have adapted to the stress and no more resistance. Thus you will have to increase the weight.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Despite my break in weight training, I hadn't gained any more weight, but I did stay on a plateau, that I think is about to be terminated.

I have already lost 60lbs which seemed to come of with ease, but the last bit of weight wasn't moving.

I guess doing high reps I won't start to bulk at all, or can you? My other concern is doing just one set - I just don't have the time to do anymore. Will I still take of the pounds with just one set?

Many thanks,

Sidney
