Hello everybody< 'm in a dilemma right here and I would need your advices. I currently weigh 174lbs with 26% body fat, I'm 5'7; my goal would be to go down to at least 17% which is the normal average body fat percentage. Anyways, my goal would be to weigh between 165lb to 170lb with 17% body fat> My dilemma ys I don't what to do first, at first, or add some mass and then bring it down to 165/170..or do a little of both..gain 5 pounds of muscle for some weeks, lose other 5 pounds the next weeks, than go back to gaining other pounds and so on. The thing I want the least is to look too depleted. what to do next??

As a male and a beginner - you have some advantages. pick any program here - lots are tailored to specific goals - and get started - clean up your diet and be consistent with your routine and you should see a decrease in bodyfat and a nice filling out of your muscles as they increase tone and fill up with nutrients and glycogen.

Hi aljo1, I was faced with the same thing, in the end I decided to go for fat loss first and then build mass, (because I'm going away with uni soon and apparently we'll be visiting some hot baths....) so I wanted to get my bf% down as a priority rather than gaining both muscle and fat in the short term, I guess it depends on if you how quickly you want to lower your bf. I'm new to all this but the ft loss program has been working for me so far so you might want to check that out. Good luck with it mate!
