I am doing a hard strength training program 2 times a wk and I am doing cardio 3 times a wk cuz I need to lose fat from my stomach. My question is do u need to break a hard sweat to lose fat? I just do 30 minutes on the elliptical machine. A 5 minute warm-up...20 minutes of HIIT (30 second intervals) and a 5 minute cool down. Then I do an Abs of Steel video after that, which is about 10 minutes long. Sometimes my legs are too sore to do the HIIT program so I will just do 20-30 minutes of regular cardio on the elliptical. What do u guys think about this?
actually doing abs post cardio can be beneficial. i generally do abs 3 days a week and it's always after i run.
i would think about mixing something else in with the elliptical. try something like doing your h.i.i.t. on the treadmill and adding an incline. don't do h.i.i.t. more than twice a week.
the amount you sweat really has no bearing on how much fat you lose. the key figure is where you are keeping your heart rate. the lower and upper ends of your maximum heart rate are usually considered 65% and 85%, respectively. keep your heart rate between these numbers and you will see better results.
